When it comes down to choose a projector for your retrofit, you may wonder which one is the best to go with. Morimoto offers three top of the line projectors that are built to impress no matter which one you choose.
Morimoto Mini H1 7.0
This is the all new Mini H1 7.0 projector just released a little over a month ago. Everything about it, especially the output, is better than its predecessor, the 6.0. Being the easiest of the three projectors to install, it is by far the most popular. Its small design and threaded shaft allow for installation practically anywhere. Due to this, it is usually less expensive to have installed when compared to the following two projectors.
Because of its small design, it is limited to using re-based HID bulbs. It is not compatible with any OEM HID bulbs, therefore, your options are limited. The new 7.0 does stand up to 50W ballasts now, so that can partially make up for any loss from using the H1 bulbs.
Morimoto Mini D2S 3.0 (Round)
Morimoto Mini D2S 3.0 (Square)
The Mini D2S 3.0 was a huge hit when it came out. There are a few reasons for that. First, it provides 80% as much light output as the FX-R projectors. Not only that, but it takes about half of the time to install, sometimes less. Second, the ability to use OEM HID bulbs. Being able to use the Osram, Phillips, or any other big name OEM bulbs is a huge motivation to many. Not only do they put out the most light possible, but you know they are reliable since they are an OE product. Third, the option of having a round or square lens. That's right, a square lens on a projector. If your headlight or vehicle has a squared design, these would blend in perfectly. It is the only projector available to date with a square lens.
Morimoto FX-R 3.0
Last on our list, but certainly not least, is the FX-R 3.0 projectors. When choosing from the Morimoto lineup, these are the best of the best to go with. Using D2S bulbs allows for OEM HID bulbs to be used just as in the Mini D2S 3.0. However, the FX-R's larger design does not limit its output. It does make installation a bit more tricky and time consuming, but it is all very well worth it when viewing the results. Available with both a 2.5" lens for smaller headlights and 3" lens to help fill larger headlights.
